The extraordinary, estuarine flatlands that lie in the shadows of Grain Power Station see the first broadcast of six specially commissioned sound works by artists
Jordan Baseman,
Andrew Dodds,
Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard,
Yue Luping,
Jeremy Millar,
Lee Patterson.

One of the most remote places in South East England, the Isle of Grain is an eerie mix of post-industrial brownfield spaces, abandoned wartime architecture and sites of special scientific interest. Eschewing visual interruptions to this stunning setting, GRAIN seeks to heighten the viewers' experiences of moving through the landscape using sound only.

On 22 September, as day turns to dusk, the new commissions will be broadcast alongside existing sound works to explore differing notions of landscape, reflecting on the conflicting perceptions of the ‘rural’ that often exist within the popular imagination.
